Position/Title: HR/Executive Director
Description of job responsibilities: Multitude of Human Resource duties including benefit administration, new hires, creating and adapting policies and procedures across all our offices, employee relations, etc. I also serve as an area of information and expertise to improve efficiency and effectiveness for employees across our six offices.

Flint CommunicationsBusiness name: Flint Communications, a part of Flint Holdings
Business location(s): Fargo, Grand Forks, Duluth, Saint Cloud
The year your business was established: Flint Communications was founded in 1946 as an advertising and public relations firm, the agency has now grown to a regional company with a client list spanning a variety of businesses, industries, government entities and not-for-profit clients.
Your motto or slogan:  Aim High
Company website:  www.flintcom.com (or) www.aimhighwithflint.com
Describe the products and/or services you offer. The Flint Group is actually something of a virtual agency – a unique collection of full-service marketing, advertising and public relations companies in different locations that share a similar history and business philosophy. We use a team format, putting together team members – often from multiple offices to utilize specific expertise – based on client needs.

Type of Training Activity Completed: Many one-on-one training sessions on Excel and Access with Julie Striefel. Most recently we conducted the Microsoft PowerPoint Level II.
Number of people trained:   20+
What was your company's motivation (or need) in seeking this training? We were looking to perfect our employees’ technical and presentation skills to better suit our clients and perspective customers.
Describe your goals in improving business through taking this training. Our goals were to elevate our employees’ skill sets, create a team of experts so we can continue to grow and train from within the company, as well as take our basic knowledge and make it both meaningful to what we do and value added for our clients.

Describe your overall experience in working with the Skills & Technology Training Center as a training solution provider. Susan (McDonald) and Julie (Streifel) were wonderful to work with. Julie came to our office and allowed our employees to work in our office setting, on our computers, as well as integrating information relevant to our business—which lent to a meaningful learning experience. According to feedback received, participants left feeling empowered instead of overwhelmed. And knowing that they were left with a resource book and that Julie was only a phone call away relieved any lingering doubts. The courses offered by the Skills and Technology Center are one of the first places we look when it comes to affordable, quality employee education.
